A Safe Place to Rest
What is Thursday Cafe? We have worked in conjunction with All Saints Episcopal Church in Worcester who has provided us with indoor space on Thursday afternoons. The intent of the Cafe is to provide a place where all feel welcome and where the dignity and welfare of all guests are affirmed. For those who may not have a safe place to sleep at night, there is the option of sleeping on air mattresses for a few hours which provides a short respite from constant vigilance on the streets. For all, Worcester Fellowship clergy and trained ministry volunteers have been available to listen and to talk. Please note that during the Covid-19 Pandemic we are using indoor space to provide meals, socks and other items to our guests who then head back outside for fellowship and spiritual companionship. Join us out front at All Saints Episcopal Church! We hope to get back to our ‘fully indoor model’ of the Cafe once we are past the Covid crisis.
_______We have celebrated with folks when they’ve been housed. We’ve celebrated periods of clean or sober time, anniversaries of freedom from violence and incarceration, successful treatments and surgeries, reunions with children, and the prospects and realities of finding a job that provides hope for moving from homelessness permanently.
Along with providing safe respite and spiritual companionship, the Cafe space allows us to provide a hot meal, sandwiches, new socks, new underwear, and toiletry items for our guests.
